Overview

Why this work is worth doing properly.

Paint cannot hide a wavy wall — it highlights it. Once the light rakes across an uneven surface, every hump and hollow shows. Good plastering is the quiet layer that decides whether the finished room looks flat and calm or patchy and cheap.

We carry out cement plastering and skim coat works to level walls and ceilings before painting, patch surfaces after hacking, and finish new drywall or masonry partitions. Every surface is straightened, filled, and sanded to a paint-ready finish.

What we cover

Plastering Works works we carry out.

Skim coating

A thin, even skim over existing walls and ceilings to remove minor undulations and give paint a flat surface to sit on.

Cement plastering

Full plaster to masonry walls and new brickwork, built up and floated true before the skim and paint layers.

Patch and make-good

Filling and levelling after hacking, chasing, or partition removal so old and new surfaces read as one.

Crack and defect repair

Raking out and filling hairline and settlement cracks, then reinforcing where movement is likely to return.

How it works

From your first message to a clean handover.

  1. 01

    Assess the surface

We check flatness, existing cracks, and the base material to decide between a skim, a full plaster, or targeted patching.

  2. 02

    Prepare and prime

Loose material is removed, surfaces are cleaned, and a bonding primer is applied so the plaster grips instead of debonding.

  3. 03

    Build up and float

Plaster or skim is applied in the correct number of passes and floated true, with beads at external corners for a crisp edge.

  4. 04

    Sand paint-ready

Once cured, surfaces are sanded flat and dust-cleaned so the painting trade can seal and coat straight away.

Questions

Plastering Works FAQs

Still unsure? Call +65 9348 1142 and speak to someone who does the work.

What is the difference between plastering and skim coating?

Plastering builds up a thicker layer to level a rough or masonry wall, while skim coating is a thin final layer that smooths an already-flat surface before painting. Many renovations need plaster first, then a skim, then paint.

How long before I can paint over new plaster?

Plaster and skim need to cure and dry before painting — typically a few days depending on thickness, humidity, and ventilation. We plan the programme so the surface is fully dry and sealed before the painters start.

Can you fix cracks that keep coming back?

Recurring cracks usually mean movement rather than a surface defect. We rake them out, fill, and reinforce with tape or mesh where needed, though structural movement may need to be addressed separately.
